Abusive Head Trauma Prevention Training for Child Care Providers

Abusive Caput Trauma (AHT) Prevention Training for Kid Care Providers replaced Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Grooming for Child Care Providers on September 1, 2020. Either SBS or AHT Prevention training taken through August 31, 2020, meets the training requirement.

The Wisconsin Legislature's 2006 Prevent Violence Confronting Children Act went into outcome in Apr 2007. The Act requires child care providers and preschool teachers working with children under historic period 5 to receive training on SBS prevention and how to manage crying, fussing, or distraught children. AHT prevention was added to the preparation when information technology was updated in 2020 by the Wisconsin Child Corruption and Neglect Prevention Board and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, in consultation with the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome.

The Wisconsin Registry

Certificates of Completion may be sent to the Wisconsin Registry with your initial Registry awarding or renewal application. The Registry does not process documents without an awarding. If the Registry receives your Certificate of Completion without an application, they will retain it until an application is submitted.

List of DCF-Approved Trainers

For an in-person or virtual AHT Prevention Training for Child Intendance Providers to meet the requirement subsequently eight/31/2020, the trainer must announced on the list of DCF-Approved Trainers (in PDF or Excel) as approved for either AHT or both SBS and AHT, and must utilize the approved AHT Training Materials.
